How to Contact a Senator

Your U.S. senators go to Washington to represent you and your needs. You should exercise your voice and contact your senators with your concerns, thoughts, suggestions or comments. The only way they can effectively represent their constituents is to hear from them on all issues.

Instructions

    • 1

Look up who your senators are. You can contact the County Clerk to find out who your local or state senators are.

    • 2

Acquire contact information from your senators' websites. You can also discover which method they choose to receive communication from their constituents. Many websites have forms that let you submit your requests, questions or comments. This ensures your remarks go directly to the appropriate contact person within your senator's office.

    • 3

Prepare your message. Make it concise and support your position with facts. Don't ridicule or point fingers. A denigrating message will go unread.

    • 4

Check back. After a couple of weeks, you can call the office to make sure they received your communication and encourage a response.

    • 5

After receiving a response to your message, it's suitable to send a thank you for the follow up.

The Democrats were way too easy on Joe Lieberman. He should have been stripped of his chairmanship. This guy doesn't know what he stands for - one minutes he's a Democrate, the next an Independent, and the next he's a Republican. I certainly hope the people of Connecticut wise up an dump this guy the next time around.
