Most people use a hair removal wax because it is an affordable and longer lasting alternative to shaving. Hair removal waxes are ideal for removing hair from areas like the bikini line, legs and the chest area on men. A microwavable hot hair removal wax is the simplest type to use.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Purchase hair removal wax. You can find a hot microwavable wax at most drug stores and online. Gigi and Clean & Easy are two companies that sell hot hair removal waxes.

  2. Step 2

Look over the instructions. Make sure that you read the package instructions and adhere to any warnings or tips that the company may supply.

  3. Step 3

Heat the wax in a microwave-safe container. Most hair removal wax companies will provide their own container for you to use. Adjust your microwave power and time according to the package directions.

  4. Step 4

Give the wax some time to cool. Scalding can occur if you apply the wax immediately after microwaving. The wax should still be warm, but not at a temperature that will burn your skin.

  5. Step 5

Test a small area of your skin first. Before you apply the wax to your entire body, you need to check for skin allergies by placing the wax on a spot that is easily concealed. The legs are typically a good area to test.

  6. Step 6

Use the applicator wand to apply the hair removal wax. The wax should be placed in a thin layer over the skin's surface. Cover the area with the gauze that has been provided.

  7. Step 7

Pull away the gauze. Check to see how much hair has been removed. You may need to repeat the process or use tweezers to pluck away stray hairs.

Tips & Warnings
  • Many hair removal wax products recommend that you apply a healing lotion to the area after waxing.
  • You can pop a couple of over-the-counter pain relievers beforehand to decrease the pain from waxing.
