Chia, or Salvia Columbariae, has been used for centuries by native populations throughout the Americas as a food source that aids digestion and promotes endurance. Today we know that chia's oil is 60 percent omega-3 fatty acid and contains the full spectrum of amino acids, making it a self-contained complete protein. Obtain chia seeds and other products containing chia and use them in your daily diet.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Chia Pets are manufactured by Joseph Enterprises, Inc. Shop their website for all things chia, including clay chia forms, chia seeds and the chia herb garden. Although the Chia Pet started out as a ram in the 1980s, the furry green pets now come in just about any shape and size.

  2. Step 2

Call your local health food and nutritional supplement retailers. Ask if they carry any chia products. Chia is being touted as the new superfood, but not all stores carry the products. Check with the store before making a trip there to ensure they carry raw chia seed.

  3. Step 3

Consider shopping online for chia seeds if your local retailers fall short of what you need. Find chia seeds, white chia seed and chia meal at the Latin Merchant website. The Chia for Health website offers everything from chia oil and seeds to chia for dogs. Buy chia seeds and chia cookbooks at Chia Seed and Oil.
