Sometimes it may seem like all of the jobs you are qualified for or want to apply for are hiding, or have simply vanished. No matter how hard you look you, just can't find the job you want. When that happens, you need to get some help with your search.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • A good rapport with your former boss and co-workers
  • Willingness to accept help
  • Willingness to get and keep a job

    Visit a Local Employment Agency

  1. Step 1

    Pull out your phone book.

  2. Step 2

Look in the "government" section. You are looking for the "Employment" listing under "City Government." If you can't find it there, call the operator and ask for the listing for the employment agency in your town.

  3. Step 3

Visit the agency first thing in the morning. This is when they will be the most helpful.

  4. Step 4

Apply for every job they give you in your field. You never know which one will be the "right" one.

  5. Register With an Online Job Search Engine

  6. Step 1

Log onto the Internet. If you don't have your own computer, go to the library or the employment agency.

  7. Step 2

Type in the URL of a major job search engine, such as Monster or Career Builder. Another is Regional Help Wanted, but they seem to have results only for large towns.

  8. Step 3

Open up Yahoo!, MySpace, AOL, MSN or any other major mail and social site. These generally have job search engines.

  9. Step 4

Pull up your local newspaper's website. Most of them have online classified ads now.

  10. Step 5

Register with the site. If you don't have an email address, go to any free email site and get one. Start searching for jobs.

  11. Ask People to Help

  12. Step 1

Mention to friends, family, and former bosses and co-workers that you are looking for a customer service job.

  13. Step 2

Ask them to let you know if they see any openings.

  14. Step 3

Request that they let you use them as a reference.

  15. Step 4

See if they will put in a good word for you, if they know an employee at a company you are planning to apply to.

  16. Step 5

Be ready to get and keep this job. You could make the person who referred you or put in a good word for you look bad if you don't.

Tips & Warnings
  • Be appreciative of those who help you. Perhaps take them out for a celebratory lunch, or at least fix them something at your house if you cannot afford to eat out.
