If you use Gmail as your primary email account, occasionally you may want to send an email with a different "From" address line because you want a recipient to reply to that address. Efficiently manage your Gmail account. Adding extra email accounts is just a few steps away.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions
  1. Step 1

    Log in to Gmail.com.

  2. Step 2

Click the "Settings" link located on the top right corner of the page.

  3. Step 3

Select the "Accounts" tab from the "General Settings" default page.

  4. Step 4

Choose the "Add Another Email Address" link located in the top section, titled "Send Mail As."

  5. Step 5

Enter your name in the "Name" field and the email address of the account you want to add in the "Email Address" field.

  6. Step 6

Choose the "Specify different email reply-to address" link if you want the reply to be sent to a different account. Add the "reply-to" email address. When someone replies to an email sent by a different "From" address, it is delivered to that address, not your Gmail account.

  7. Step 7

Choose "Next Step" and then "Send Verification." A verification letter is sent to your email account specifying the desired changes. Click the link or enter a verification code in the "Accounts" section of your Gmail account to complete the process.

Tips & Warnings
  • Your Gmail address will still be included in the sender field to prohibit it from being treated as spam. Most email servers do not display the sender field, but some do.

on 7/28/2008 I can't complete step seven because gmail block me sending the verification email. I get a mail delivery notice saying that it is permanently blocked. Funny thing is... even the mail delivery notice comes in straight to the spam folder!!!
