How to Start Selling Avon

Avon is a cosmetics company that has been around since 1886; today, there are over five million Avon representatives around the world. Although Avon is a large company that offers a lot of support, each Avon representative is actually viewed as a small business owner. Follow these steps if you'd like to begin selling Avon products.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Step1
Test the products. Perhaps you're already a big fan of Avon products. If you're not familiar with too many of them, it's a good idea to place an order and test them. It's hard to sell products that you don't truly love.
Step2
Go to the Avon site and fill out an application form. The company will contact you with more information about what you will have to purchase to get started and what your commission structure will be.
Step3
Make a list of potential customers. Send booklets to family and friends who might want to place orders.
Step4
Decide whether to take your Avon business online. There is a small charge for your website. Look at the numbers and determine whether providing your customers with the convenience of online shopping is worth the cost.
Step5
Speak to an accountant or small business consultant. Since you are running a home business, there will be write-offs. Talk to someone before you begin so you can keep your bookkeeping in order--you'll be happy you did when tax season rolls around.
