Things You'll Need:
- Permit
- Hunting license
- Social security number
- Hunter safety certificate
-
Step 1
Use trapping and snaring only under the appropriate guidelines and licenses. If you are a nonresident, you must be from a state that allows North Dakota residents to trap before you will be issued a license.
-
Step 2
Purchase a combination license to hunt small game, furbearer and general game. You must be at least 16 years of age. A small game license for upland species can be purchased separately, if your interests are wild fowl such as grouse or pheasant.
-
Step 3
Complete your hunter safety education in plenty of time to have your validation number when you apply for a North Dakota license or permit. You must have the validation number before your license application will be accepted.
-
Step 4
Obtain a disability permit if you require the assistance of a crutch, wheelchair or any mechanical support. If you have a heart and lung disease that requires oxygen, you qualify for a disability permit. Your doctor must verify your medical disability.
-
Step 5
Apply through the North Dakota Game and Fish Department for a mobility-impaired permit to shoot from a vehicle if you are disabled (see Resources below). You must select if you are a resident or non-resident to be taken to the correct site for making application.
-
Step 6
Be advised that licenses to hunt wild turkey, elk, moose, bighorn sheep, pronghorn gun and deer are available in North Dakota only by lottery. Apply online through the North Dakota Game and Fish website (see Resources below).
