Things You'll Need:
- Firearm(s) or other preferred weapons (and permits)
- Ammunition
- Hunter education training
- Appropriate hunting permit(s)
-
Step 1
Contact the Kansas Department of Wildlife & Parks to complete hunting applications. You may do so online via Kansas Department of Wildlife & Parks website, in person or by mail (see Resources below). There are separate application procedures for residents and non-residents. Keep in mind that general hunting licenses are subject to limits and restrictions that do not apply to specialized licenses for certain types of prey.
-
Step 2
Make absolutely certain you understand all terms and conditions of your hunting license(s) before you go out to hunt. You will have to sign your license for it to be valid. Your signature is an implicit acknowledgment that you are familiar with and understand all laws applicable to your hunting license.
-
Step 3
Take advantage of the Kansas Department of Wildlife & Parks' many hunter education and training programs. You can learn everything from how to go fur trapping to how to go blood trailing. Specialized instruction for firearms hunters, bow hunters and fur harvesters are all available.
-
Step 1
Learn the beginning and end dates of the hunting seasons on the game you wish to hunt. The Department of Wildlife & Parks website provides convenient online tables detailing valid dates on every type of game classified under state law.
-
Step 2
Head for one of the many valid hunting zones in the wide-open state of Kansas. If you are in doubt about where the public is permitted to hunt in the state, consult the Department of Wildlife & Parks website for "Where to Hunt" pages.
-
Step 3
Observe Kansas hunting laws regarding legal property to hunt on, game limits and hunting seasons at all times. Report poachers to the Kansas Department of Wildlife & Parks.
