A can-can is an aerial snowmobile trick in which one foot is thrown into the air and over the top of the snowmobile frame. The rider can also raise both legs on one side of the snowmobile in a no-footed can-can. This trick is fun to do and looks impressive to spectators. This trick is certainly not the hardest and can be mastered after enough practice.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Snowmobile helmet
  • Gloves
  • Snowmobile in good working order
  • Sun goggles (when needed)
  • Proper clothing attire
  1. Step 1

Approach the jump ramp with sufficient speed. This step is important in the execution of the subsequent steps, and it allows you to clear the jump distance.

  2. Step 2

Lift your feet off the sides once the snowmobile is in the air. The lift should not be too wide so that you can recover before landing.

  3. Step 3

Throw one or both feet out to the preferred side.

  4. Step 4

Place the feet back on the sides of the snowmobile. This should be done after the feet are stretched out.

  5. Step 5

Properly land the jump. The foot or feet thrown need to be back in place before the jump is landed.

Tips & Warnings
  • Learn about this and other maneuvers at online websites, such as X Winter Games (see Resources).
  • Know the rules and guidelines for safe snowmobile riding. Essortment is an excellent resource for this information (see Resources).
  • A no-footer can-can is done with both legs thrown to one side. This should be done only when the one-legged can-can is mastered.
  • The knees and legs should have padding in case the feet do not hit the sides of the vehicle.
  • Consider practicing on a tabletop jump until the can-can is comfortable to do.
  • Be sure to throw only the legs outside of the snowmobile. Do not throw the whole body out because this will prevent recovery before landing.
  • Wear a helmet when doing this or any other extreme sport stunt. Helmets protect against severe and fatal injuries.
  • Avoid jerky movements when attempting snowmobile stunts. Movements should be gentle and smooth to avoid crashes or flips.
  • View video streams and clips of the can-can and other stunts with caution. The rider in a clip may not be applying the proper techniques.
