Step 1
Find out what's on. Each night of the week has a different theme and activities--from rock karaoke to darts competitions, with frequent live bands. Visit the Opium website for listings and details.
-
Step 2
Check the hours. Opium's usual opening time is 8 p.m. but this can change so check the website or ring 0131 225 8382 to confirm the opening hours and the set times when bands are playing.
-
Step 3
Confirm the admission price. This varies from night to night, but is usually less than £5 and some nights are free. Details of prices for different nights can be found on the Opium website, which also has information about any special offers or drinks promotions.
-
Step 4
Decide what to wear. The crowds at Opium are mostly rock and metal types, so put on your best rock outfit. If in doubt, wear something black and ditch your trainers in favour of biker boots.
-
Step 5
Plan your travel. Opium is located on Cowgate between the George IV Bridge and South Bridge, near Edinburgh's Waverley train station. The club is easily accessible on foot from anywhere in the city centre. Before you head out, it's a good idea to plan your trip home and book a taxi if necessary.
