Harry Potter's final book in J.K. Rowling's series about a boy wizard's difficult journey through a magical adolescence is nearly here. If you haven't read any of these before then I won't spoil the setup for this last piece of the puzzle, but I would like to give some pointers on preparing for it.

Difficulty: Challenging
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Pre-Order
  • Favorite Mug/Drink
  • Comfy Couch/Chair
  1. Step 1

First and foremost you must have pre-ordered the book. If you haven't done that and you're reading this now then it's too late to pre-order, time to get in line at the bookstore on July 21st (Saturday). The rest of us have other things to do ...

  2. Step 2

Put up your blinders. Harry Potter is incredibly popular and with the grand amount of people holding their breath for his latest adventure, there's bound to be those who either can't wait or simply want to make a profit out of stealing the answers. Expect this last week's news to contain all kinds of things like "electronic version of Deathly Hallows leaked", "bookstore sells copy/copies a day early", "man shouts surprise ending from rooftop", etc. All that said, stop reading your paper, your Google news, and your favorite gossip blogs. Oh and don't look for T-Shirts either (believe me).

  3. Step 3

Stock up on your favorite reading supplies such as snacks (popcorn, chips, ... carrots?) and drinks. I typically prefer tea and coffee, but being that it's summer I may go with lemonade and diet cola. Whatever you do, make sure it gives you a nice boost so you can blast through the book on Saturday and be unaffected by news exposure the following week.

  4. Step 4

Leak your excitement ONLY to those with the same investment in the stories. If you continue gushing your enthusiasm to non-Potter-fans you will end up with a black eye, or worse, they will find out the key surprises and just tell you flat out to get you to shut up.
