Birthday gifts for female adults should be fun and thoughtful and let her know you were truly thinking of her when you bought or made the gift. Whether she is your girlfriend, wife, mother, sister, cousin or friend, a little thought and effort can yield the perfect gift for her.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Think about the woman's personality and choose a gift that reflects it. If she is a busy mom barely making time for herself, the best gift may be a pass for each of you to spend at a day spa, daycare included.

  2. Step 2

Check websites to search by personalities such as "The Achiever," "The Super Mom" and "The Urban Sophisticate" to find a perfect gift or just gather ideas (see Resources below). Look to see if she has any catalogs lying around her house, as those might also be clues to what would be on her wish list.

  3. Step 3

Look at jewelry stores and department stores for jewelry featuring her birth stone or favorite gem. Women don't always buy jewelry for themselves.

  4. Step 4

Make a handmade journal or painting if you are artistic. Borrow her favorite photo and get it blown up into an art-sized framed masterpiece. Mix creativity and personality to create a one-of-a-kind item.

  5. Step 5

Consider enrolling in dance or yoga classes together. Maybe she wouldn't attempt belly dancing alone, but give her a friend and a reason to go and you may just find a hidden talent. This also gives you a chance to spend time with her and get fit at the same time. Bonus points for you if you also line up a babysitter.

  6. Step 6

Select a gift that really means something to her. Gift baskets with books, movies, wine, chocolate and gift certificates may combine all her favorite things into one beautiful reusable basket, but if she would have more fun with tickets to an upcoming concert or sporting event, leave the soaps and candies for another time.

Tips & Warnings
  • Make the gift about her. She may need new clothes for her baby or a replacement vacuum belt to keep the house clean, but not for her birthday. Give her something she can use for herself.
  • Give tickets and passes in pairs so she can ask a friend or loved one to go with her.

on 3/19/2008 It's the little things that matter most - reminding them year-round of your love is the best gift of all. It can be a simple post-it note or an unexpected gift. There are sites like www.remindyourlove.com and www.redenvelope.com that make this pretty easy...good luck.
