In real estate, continuing education is one of the best uses of your time. In fact, most states require realtors to learn new material. Seminars and classes for the real estate professional keep you knowledgeable, competitive and motivated. Stay on top of your game by following these steps and signing up for a real estate seminar in your area.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Go to your local board of realtors, which should have the most reliable and up-to-date information. If your town doesn't have a board, go to the state board. Seminars endorsed by realtor boards are usually of the highest quality and the most legitimate.

  2. Step 2

Use the Internet. Hundreds of real estate websites and web pages are available for the modern realtor to find quality seminars. Many websites will have event calendars and online enrollment, which makes it even easier to sign up.

  3. Step 3

Ask your colleagues. Associates and coworkers are often the best sources for good seminar information. A realtor friend will likely fill you in as soon as she hears of one, but return the favor and share the wealth when you have the inside scoop.

  4. Step 4

Sign up for newsletters, email listservs, e-updates and print publications. These media have listings for local seminars and provide contact information for enrollment.

  5. Step 5

Consult the National Association of Realtors. NAR is the national source for all things real estate. Their website is a great place to find updates, continuing education and real estate news in your home state as well as professionally run seminars. (See Resources below.)

  6. Step 6

Call the real estate schools in your area. Most states have at least a handful of real estate schools, some of which are exclusively online. These schools have good information on how to find real estate seminars.

Tips & Warnings
  • Seminars usually focus on a particular topic or family of topics. Don't attend a seminar without making sure you know what will be covered.
  • Some real estate seminars are only offered to professionals with specific qualifications or licenses. For example, realtors with a GRI license may not be able to attend brokers' seminars without a broker's license.
  • Use caution when searching for seminars online. Although there are plenty of legitimate real estate seminars offered on the Internet, make sure you do the research before punching in your credit card.
