Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Step1
Talk to the human resources executive of a local hospital or healthcare facility to find out about continuing education seminars held on-site for nurses. Also ask about recommended seminars for anyone considering a career in nursing.
Step2
Call local colleges or universities to get a listing of seminars they offer. Hospitals and clinics want their staff to stay current or even get ahead of the curve on constantly changing medical information, so these organizations may be willing to pay for their employees to attend seminars. Check with your HR person.
Step3
Find professional seminars in your area at the Med-Ed or National Business Institute websites, among others. (See Resources below.) If you are willing to travel a little, you can often find a great weekend conference that provides you with the opportunity to attend multiple seminars or classes as well as network with other people in the industry.
Step4
Consider online or tele-seminars through PESI or similar companies for a cost-effective way to increase your knowledge in the field without having to travel. (See Resources below.)
Step5
Use Nurses.com to access Nursing Spectrum, a source of a large number of seminars. This site also includes a variety of information on earning degrees and accumulating credit hours in all aspects of the nursing field. (See Resources below.)
