Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Things You’ll Need:
- Bathroom cleanser
- Sponge or rag
- Bleach, vinegar or alcohol

Clean Weekly
Step1
Clean your bathtub right after using it. The steam loosens up the dirt and grime and makes the job a lot easier. Use bathroom cleanser or baking soda weekly and scrub with a sponge or rag. Rinse the tub well.
Step2
Open the drain and remove the hair. Clean with the cleanser and rinse.
Step3
Clean the porcelain surfaces with the bathroom cleaner.
Step4
Clean caulking around the bathtub with bleach, vinegar or alcohol to kill the mildew.
Step5
Wipe surfaces dry after cleaning.
Maintain Daily
Step1
Keep your bathtub clean by rinsing the tub after each use.
Step2
Remove hair from the surface of the drain.
Step3
Wipe surfaces dry with your towel. Pay special attention to the shower's tile grout and the caulk around the tub to prevent mildew growth and buildup of soap scum.
Step4
Turn on the exhaust fan, open the door and window in the bathroom and leave the shower door open to increase ventilation and decrease the possibility of mildew. Close the shower curtains so they can dry quickly and thoroughly.

on 10/9/2008 Thanks for the tips! I hate cleaning the bathtub but it's not going to clean itself!
