The sucker punch is also known as the secret weapon of the underdog. If you find yourself outmatched in a scary situation, your best bet may be to give a quick sucker punch and run like heck. Here's how to throw an effective sucker punch.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Be passive in the situation. Someone who throws a sucker punch does so because they are overmatched. If you are the aggressor in the situation, throwing a punch is something someone would expect. So, to throw an effective sucker punch, you must be passive and appear as if you are on the losing end of what's about to be a very bloody battle.

  2. Step 2

Check out the distance between you and the aggressor. Most punches can be thrown from a distance of about two feet. Check to see where you are in relation to the aggressor's stomach. A sucker punch is always thrown toward the stomach with the purpose of "knocking the wind out" of someone, which will give you ample time to run. Make sure you can reach from your distance.

  3. Step 3

Distract your opponent. Exclaim "Hhey what's that?" and point your finger to a point behind him. The exclaimation, "Look, your shoes are untied!" may be a tad less successful and enlighten the aggressor that you are about to throw a punch. This might enrage him more. The key is to distract the aggressor's attention away from you. If he is preoccupied with women, point out a stunner across the way.

  4. Step 4

Throw the sucker punch. Once he is distracted, use your strongest hand and let him have it right in the gut. He will double over in pain and be taken aback.

  5. Step 5

Run like heck to safety. The aggressor is not going to take too kindly to the fact that you gave him an unfair shot. So getting to a safe place becomes a priority, because the aggressor will surely be out for revenge. Run until you get home or reach a group of people who will intervene.

Tips & Warnings
  • Hitting someone is considered assault. You can be arrested and prosecuted for the act. Be sure that if you do throw a sucker punch, that it is in self-defense.
