Remember that Seinfeld episode where George became a hand model? It wasn't entirely fiction--there are such things as hand models and they can make loads of money. Unfortunately, chances are you're not going to randomly be chosen for this occupation like George did--there are certain things you have to do to get the ball rolling. Here are a few of those tips in order for you to become a successful hand model.

Step1
Take care of your hands. Find out your skin type and use creams and moisturizers accordingly. Get regular manicures and keep your finger nails trimmed and polished. Consider going in for a professional pedicure once every two weeks.
Step2
Eat a healthy diet and regularly take vitamins such as vitamin C, vitamin E, zinc and Omega 3 oils. These supplements help keep your skin flawless and radiant. Also use sun block daily for added protection.
Step3
Go through magazines and newspapers and make a list of advertisements that feature hands with attributes identical to yours. This will also allow you get some ideas on poses and backdrops.
Step4
Call a couple of your local model agencies and ask them what they specifically look for in hand models (if they represent hand models at all). You'll want to have a few professionally-shot photos ready for submission--these agencies will probably ask for a few shots. This is where an attractive portfolio is going to come in handy. You'll also want to send the photos with inquiry letters to well-known local or out-of-state modeling agencies.
Step5
When you get a meeting with a modeling agency, get to their offices on time--just like any other job interview. Be professional in your attitude. Follow the advice and requirements of the modeling agency and advertising manager. Once you win their approval, this will open new doors for your career as a hand model.

  • Use a high-quality digital camera to take photos for better results.
  • Always follow up with the modeling agency once you have sent them your pictures.
  • When you can, wear gloves to protect your hands from the harmful rays of the sun.
  • Avoid getting scratches, cuts or burns on your hands as this will create problems in your hand modeling career.
  • Do not let your hands dry out especially in the winter season.
  • Always be the master of your domain.
