How to Play Monopoly Online

Monopoly, the classic, best-selling board game is now available online at multiple gaming websites. You can download the game for free with the option to buy later. Learn to play online Monopoly by reading the steps below.

Instructions
  1. Step 1

    Verify your system requirements before downloading Monopoly. This includes the latest version of Windows, a processor with 800 megahertz or higher, 128 megabytes of RAM, Flash Player 9 or higher and a DirectX version 7.0 or 8.0.

  2. Step 2

    Visit a gaming site such as Games, Yahoo! or Gamezone Select the link for Monopoly 3, Monopoly Here and Now or Monopoly Tycoon.

  3. Step 3

    Click the button to download a free trial. This will take you to the game page. If you choose the buy the online game, you will be taken to a payment information page.

  4. Step 4

    At the main menu page of Monopoly, select "New Game." When you get to the next screen, enter your name as player one and click "OK." Next, choose up to three additional players who will be able to play online. If there are no available human players, select up to three computer players.

  5. Step 5

    Play using the house rules, or customize the rules. Do this by selecting the "Customize" button at the bottom of the players' page. Go to the rules page to change how many houses you can build or earn a bonus for landing on Free Parking. Press "Accept the Rules" at the bottom of the page.

  6. Step 6

    Select "Play" at the Players page to start the game. Each player takes turns by clicking the "Roll Dice" button on the game page. Like the board game, you start with a fixed amount of money, and you can buy, sell, auction, build and pay rent at the click of a mouse.

Tips & Warnings
  • You can choose skill levels for your computer players. First-time buyer is the easy level, Entrepreneur is the moderate level and Tycoon is more advanced.
