Things You'll Need:
- Leotard
- Tights
- Hair ties
- Ballet shoes
- Leg warmers
- Cover up
-
Step 1
Wear a ballet leotard to class. Check your studio's dress code to see if they require a certain color leotard. Typically, black or pink is worn. Leotards should fit close to your body, allowing your teacher to see if you are holding your body correctly.
-
Step 2
Check to see if you need to wear a particular color of tights. Pink tights are typically worn for ballet.
-
Step 3
Secure your hair in a bun. Tie back all loose hairs. The teacher wants to see your neck.
-
Step 4
Tuck in the drawstring on your ballet shoes. Also make sure that your elastics are sewn on properly. Go to a dance store where a specialist can fit your ballet shoes correctly. It is important to have a shoe that fits you well.
-
Step 5
Remove all jewelry during ballet class. Jewelry gets in the way of your dancing and can potentially be dangerous.
-
Step 6
Bring leg warmers to warm up at the barre. Again check your school's dress code to see if you need to wear a certain color. Leg warmers prevent injuries during ballet class.
-
Step 7
Dress in a cover up to and from ballet class. Cover ups keep your muscles warm.
