Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Step1
Research the market. Find out as much about the business as you can. Determine where and how many bouncehouses are for rent in your area. Look on the Internet and in phone books. Call the existing companies and ask how much it costs to rent the house and for how long. Ask how long they have been in business and whether they are insured.
Step2
Incorporate. This will protect your personal finances from a business liability.
Step3
Buy a bouncehouse. There are several retailers online, but look for quality. Good quality bouncehouses should be double stitched and have a warranty included. Many retailers offer this, but if the price is too good to be true, it probably is.
Step4
Acquire insurance. There are several companies that offer liability insurance. Contact your insurance agent to see if they will insure your business first, and if they won't, ask for other options.
Step5
Secure a location. The location can be public or private. Rent space in an open area of a mall, a busy town square, a park, carnival, zoo or other public location with lots of people. The public location will need to be manned. The other option is to rent the bouncehouse for private parties. The private location can be unmanned.
Step6
Advertise. Go to the venue and offer your services. Pass out flyers in a busy town center, parks, or other location with parents and children. Sponsor the local Little League team or ice hockey team and get your name out there. Advertise on the side of the bouncehouse.
Step7
Set up the bouncehouse the day of the event. Follow manufacturer directions. Lay a tarp when needed and keep the equipment clean. Have fun!
