Whether you are looking for a cardio class or trying to keep in biking shape during bad weather, Spinning gives you a terrific workout. Instructors will stimulate sprints, hills and other real life biking circumstances during the class.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Step1
Consult with a doctor before you begin an exercise class, including Spinning. Spinning raises your heartbeat and it's important to know how medications and health conditions will react to this. Knowing that you are physically able to participate will relieve any anxiety that you may have about your health while exercising.
Step2
Get familiar with your bike before class. You need to know how to stop the pedals in case of an emergency and you will want to learn how to adjust the seat and handlebar height.
Step3
Adjust your bike when you arrive for class. Adjust your seat so that your knee has a slight bend in it when your foot is at the bottom of the pedal cycle. Your arms should be slightly bent and at a comfortable distance from the handlebars.
Step4
Bring water to class. You want to stay hydrated and you won't have time during class to run to a drinking fountain. Many people also take towels to class to wipe sweat or to drape over the handlebars to keep your hands in place in different positions.
Step5
Wear appropriate clothing. You'll want clothes which absorb moisture and you may find that clothing made specifically for biking is most comfortable. Biking shorts provide extra seat padding to make the ride more comfortable. A gel seat cover can also make the ride easier. You'll also want a stiff soled shoe for the class.

Tips & Warnings

  • Comfort is the key to enjoying a Spinning class so pay close attention to bike adjustments and your workout attire.
