1
Buy a dictionary. In fact, buy two. The first should be a comprehensive dictionary that you can use at home and the second, a pocket dictionary, for when you're on the go.
-
2
Memorize the alphabet. The Polish alphabet is uniquely different from the English alphabet and has special characters, including: ą, ę, ł, ć, ś, ź, ń, and ż. It is important to be aware of what they sound like since this is key to understanding and communicating in Polish.

3
Invest in a language program. These can be pricey but some of them are used by NASA, the military, and schools around the world. You usually can find a few to choose from at your local bookstore or order one online.
-
4
Keep a notebook. Include key words, phrases, and translations that you can study. Eventually you will feel a sense of accomplishment when you realize how much progress you've made.
-
5
Speak with a Polish person. Ask people if they know any native speakers in your area. Depending on where you live, there may even be a Polish community nearby. If not, consider getting yourself a pen pal.
-
6
Practice regularly. It is imperative that you be consistent as the more you practice, the better your chances are of becoming fluent. Set aside a little time each day (ideally, 30 to 45 minutes) to ensure that you retain and build on everything you've learned.
