Having the courage to slide onto the back of a bull is something to be proud of, whether you're an amateur or a professional. Bull riding ranks as one of the most dangerous sports in the world. These are the steps you should take if you're considering going pro.

From Quick Guide: Pro Sports
Difficulty: Moderately Challenging
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Go to a bull-riding school. There are several schools operating to help you become a professional bull rider. These are a great way to get expert advice and critiques.

  2. Step 2

Buy your equipment. You need you own chaps, vest, hand rope, boots and spurs.

  3. Step 3

Go to rodeos and get a feel for the lifestyle. Professional rodeo riders travel a great deal, so be sure that this is a way of life you can live with.

  4. Step 4

Find a sponsor. Sponsors can help you with entry fees, traveling expenses and equipment costs.

  5. Step 5

Keep your body in shape. You're tossed around all the time like a rag doll and you're achy and sore, but you still need a strong upper body, strong legs and great balance. So when you're not riding, take particularly good care of yourself. Exercise as much as you can. However, remember to give yourself time to recover from injuries and don't start working out until you're fully healed.

  6. Step 6

Buy a Professional Bull Riding membership. You must be 18 to get a riding permit. Once you've won a certain amount in prize money, you're eligible to be a PBR Cardholder. You must continue to earn prize money each year to keep your card and to advance to the more prestigious tours and rodeo series.
