How to Care for a Japanese Chin

A Japanese Chin is a tiny, oriental dog with a long coat. It is the perfect apartment dog because it requires only a small amount of exercise. However, this dog also requires a lot of care. Follow these guidelines to provide for your pet's needs.

Instructions

    • 1

Feed your Japanese Chin quality food. Feed him his native diet of Mandarin Chinese foods which include fish, pork, rice, greens and soy products.

    • 2

Give your dog a daily vitamin supplement. Purchase a supplement that is loaded with fruits and vegetables.

    • 3

Provide your pet with plenty of non-fluoridated water. Fluoridated water can molt their tooth enamel. Filtered water is best for this dog.

    • 4

Add a half a teaspoon of pure Emu oil to your dog's food daily. Reduces shedding and provides the necessary fatty acids to care for your Chin's coat.

    • 5

Massage your Japanese Chin every month with "Miracle Oil." Condition her coat and skin and touch helps relieve your dog's emotional and physical pain.

    • 6

Bathe your Japanese Chin once a month with an herbal shampoo. Blow dry his hair when you are done to make sure he does not catch a cold. Trim his nails every two weeks and brush his teeth weekly.

    • 7

Take your dog on a couple of short walks a day for exercise and bonding time. She will be at her happiest though when you are holding her.

Tips & Warnings

  • If you must feed him dog food due to time constraints, it is recommended that you stick with organic dog such as Wysong.

  • Dr. Bob Goldstein's Daily Health Nuggets For Dogs is a highly recommended supplement that is loaded with fruits and vegetables.

  • If you are unable to take her on walks then let her run around the yard.
