How to Make Star Christmas Tree Ornaments
Who says a Christmas tree should have a star only at the top? You can add color and glimmer to your entire tree with these distinctive star decorations. Does this Spark an idea?
Things You'll Need
- 18 or 24 gauge gold craft wire
- Cookie cutter
- Wire cutters
- Ribbon
- 10 wooden craft sticks
- Glue
- Markers or paint
- Fishing line
- Plastic wrap
- Cardboard or tray
- Hard drying white craft glue
- Glitter
- Yarn
Instructions

Wire Star

Cut an 18-inch length of wire. Wrap the wire around a pencil to form a loop for hanging.

Continue by forming the wire into a star shape using a star cookie cutter. Form the wire around the outside of the cookie cutter. Wrap the end of the wire around the loop and cut excess off with a wire cutters.

Remove the cookie cutter and continue wrapping more wire around the star shaped wire. Wrap wire any directions using the outlined star.

Wrap end around loop again when done and cut any excess wire off.

Tie a ribbon to the loop and hang it on the Christmas tree.
Popsicle Stick Star

Position 10 wooden craft sticks into a star shape on a flat surface. The sticks should form the outline of the star.

Glue all wooden craft sticks together at the ends, keeping the star shape.

Decorate the sticks using red, green, gold, silver or any color markers or paint.

Attach a small loop of fishing line to one point of the star for hanging on the tree.
Glitter Star

Cover a tray or piece of cardboard with a large piece of plastic wrap. Pull the plastic tight, and secure it to the back with tape. Make sure the tray is something you won't need for a few days.

Draw a star shape on the plastic using a bottle of glue with a pointed end. Cover the entire inside of the star shape with glue so there are no empty spots.

Attach a small piece of looped yarn to one of the points on the star. The yarn will dry into the glue, and will be used to hang it on the tree.

Sprinkle glitter over the entire star. Cover all the glue.

Let the star dry for 2 days. After it is dry, pick up the plastic wrap and shake the excess glitter from the star.

Start at a point on the star, and peel the plastic wrap off the back of the star. Hang the star from the tree using the yarn loop.

Tips & Warnings
Make some stars with gold and some silver for a variety.
Cut the sticks in half to make smaller stars and save wooden craft sticks.
Use different trays for making batches of different colored stars.
