An extreme sport that is both fun and exciting, street skateboarding comes with jargon that you might want to learn to stay on the cool side of hip. Follow these steps.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Learn the terms for street skateboard stances. There are two types of stances, regular foot and goofy foot. Regular foot is when you skate with your left foot towards the front (or nose) of the board. Goofy foot is when you skate with your right foot towards the front of the board.

  2. Step 2

Gather information on different types of Grind tricks. A grind is when you ride on the coping of a ramp, curb or railing on the trucks of your skateboard. A 50-50 is the most popular grind trick.

  3. Step 3

Find out more about Flip tricks. A flip trick is any trick where the board flips or rotates. The skateboard can flip upside down and/or end-over-end. A kick flip is the most popular flip trick.

  4. Step 4

Study the different types of Slide tricks. A slide is when you ride on the coping of a ramp, curb or railing on the deck (or wood) of your skateboard. Board slides are the most popular slide tricks.

  5. Step 5

Review other street terms such as carving, switch and manual. Carving is when you lean and turn sharply on your board. Switch is when you pull a trick in the opposite stance from how you normally ride. A manual is when you ride on the rear two or front two wheels of the skateboard.
