There are a million kinds of cocktails that you can shake. But one that is sometimes overlooked, simple to make and absolutely yummy is the Classic Cocktail. If you like brandy and the refreshing taste of lemon and cherries, then this is a drink that you must try. Here is the recipe.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 2 oz. brandy
  • 1/2 oz. clear curacao
  • 1/2 oz. maraschino juice
  • 1/2 oz. lemon juice
  • Wedge of lemon
  • 1 tsp. fine sugar
  • Bar sugar
  • Slice of lemon peel
  • Chilled martini glass
  • Shaker
  1. Step 1

Rim the edge of your martini glass by first wiping it with a lemon wedge then dipping it in bar sugar and shaking off the excess.

  2. Step 2

Combine the brandy, maraschino juice, lemon juice, clear curacao, sugar and ice cubes in a shaker.

  3. Step 3

Cap and shake the drink for a good 5 seconds, until it is well-mixed.

  4. Step 4

Strain the drink into your rimmed martini glass.

  5. Step 5

Garnish the Classic Cocktail with a slice of lemon either floating in the drink or sitting on the rim. Try it at your next dinner party.

Tips & Warnings
  • For an even higher-end drink, purchase the actual Maraschino rather than using the cherry juice. It is a sweet Italian liqueur and is white in color. (When they add it to cherries, the juice turns red.)
