3. Watch your local news. Most community events are covered by the media. The more popular an event, the more coverage it will have. Depending on the cause for the parade, your local news station may begin advertising their coverage before the event.
4. Get involved in your community. Community volunteers are generally the first to know when an event will happen. You need to be active in your community to find out what opportunities are available. Not only are you among the first to know of an event, you may even be asked to plan a parade of lights for your community.
