How to Plan Company Christmas Donations

Christmas tends to be the one time of year when many people feel more generous toward others. It can also be your best of getting your company to donate to those in need. Once you establish a plan for your company Christmas donations, you can give generously each season.

Instructions

    • 1

Get approval from your company before you begin campaigning for donations. Some companies have policies in place for presenting the request to employees. Other companies may already have an established donation plan that they use on an annual basis.

    • 2

Ask employees what causes they want to support. You will get a better response from the company as a whole if people are allowed to give their input on causes that they personally support. If there are several ideas, you can have the employees vote on one or two causes.

    • 3

Pick an organization to work with your company. Many organizations have programs in place for companies who wish to donate. For example, you can choose a local organization that helps provide Christmas gifts for needy children, or you can pick a national company that provides food for a select group of individuals.

    • 4

Limit the number of places to donate. You want your company's donations to be valuable and successful. While you could help several organizations with smaller donations, it is generally better to focus the company's donations on one or two organizations.

    • 5

Set a reasonable goal for the company donations. Let everyone know how the donations are going to help people. Once you have set a goal, establish a place where employees can track the progress of the donations. You can do this with a chart in the break room or through daily announcements.

    • 6

Collect the donations. If employees will donate gifts rather than money, you might want to put a Christmas tree in the break room. Set a deadline for when donations must be made.

    • 7

Turn in the donations. Most organizations have a deadline they must meet. You need to know what their deadline is and plan on having your company's donations turned in on time.

Tips & Warnings

  • Some companies may offer to match employee donations.

  • Not all organizations are reputable. Do your research to avoid scams.
