How to Celebrate Christmas without Snow

If you grew up in a climate that was warm year round, you are probably used to a green Christmas. But for people who grew up celebrating Christmas with snow, it can be difficult to get in the holiday spirit without it.

1. Decorate for Christmas. Put up the Christmas decorations you enjoy inside and outside. Your lights will still look pretty at night, with or without snow.
2. Play Christmas music. A large part of getting ready for Christmas is the holiday music. You can count on the radio stations and stores to be playing Christmas music. Even if you cannot find a radio station with your favorite carols, you can still play Christmas CDs.
3. Go summer sledding. If you enjoy sledding, you can do it without the snow. You need either a special sled designed with wheels to roll over grass or a big block of ice. Find a nice grassy hill and let the fun begin. If you are using a block of ice, wear snow pants on or expect to have a wet bottom.
4. Keep your traditions. If you like to carol every year, head on out. You can enjoy singing your favorite songs without the red nose. Send out Christmas cards and watch your favorite Christmas movies.
5. Host the holidays at your house. For many people, having family nearby is all it takes to celebrate Christmas. Chances are that while you are missing the snow, your family is ready for a warm location and a break from it. Invite everyone to your house and celebrate your favorite family traditions.
6. Rent a snow maker and make your own snow, if all else fails. Even if it melts as soon as it hits the ground, you can still enjoy the swirling flakes as they shoot out of the blower.
