Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Step1
Book your cruise early. As holiday cruises become more popular, cruise lines are booking earlier and earlier. Any cruise schedule for Christmas, Hanukkah or New Year's is likely to sell out. You need to get your reservation in at least six months prior to the day of departure.
Step2
Research the festivities and activities offered. Some cruise lines decorate public areas for Christmas. Others play Christmas music over the sound system. There are even cruises that have Santa and the elves drop by the boat. You need to find a cruise line that will provide your family with the experience it wants to have.
Step3
Include your extended family. If you normally spend holidays with the relatives, invite them along on the cruise. Several cruise lines offer group rates or discounts. Plan on meeting together with the family to celebrate your family traditions.
Step4
Give each other gifts. You can purchase gifts as you travel along with the cruise. Or you can pack your Christmas gifts and take them with you. Santa can find most children regardless of where they are.
Step5
Pack your favorite Christmas goodies. While you may not be able to take all of your favorite Christmas foods, you can select a few that are appropriate for travel. Take these with you on the cruise for a quick holiday treat.
Step6
Be flexible. No matter what a company does to celebrate Christmas, it will not be the Christmas you would plan at home. Enjoy the efforts that others go to for you to celebrate Christmas on a cruise. Focus on being with your family on a relaxing vacation rather than what is missing.
