Christmas stockings are a tradition that dates back hundreds of years. Children would hang their socks upon the fireplace and Santa Claus would fill them with toys or candy. The tradition is still recognized and parents continue to fill their children's stockings with plenty of goodies each year.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy
Step1
Keep the size of the stocking in mind before you make your stocking stuffer purchases. You want to purchase an adequate amount of gifts, but not completely overfill the stocking.
Step2
Choose candy, toys or a mixture of both. You can fill the stocking with all candy, but this may not be the healthiest option. Most parents chose to fill the stocking with toys and a few pieces of the child's favorite candy.
Step3
Consider religious stocking stuffers. If you want to encourage your child to learn more about her religion, choose some fun spiritual stocking stuffers. There are Bible coloring books, candy made from crosses or rosary bead jewelry.
Step4
Keep their interests in mind. If you have an avid reader in the family, give him items that reflect this love. Fill the stocking with books, a book light and bookmarks.
Step5
Stuff the stocking with beauty items. Mini bottles of perfume, makeup, lotions and scented soaps are the perfect stocking stuffer for children that are entering the preteen or teen years.
Step6
Save by purchasing arts and crafts supplies and placing them in the stocking. If your child is low on crayons, glue sticks or markers, buy these items and place them in the stocking.

Tips & Warnings

  • Do not forget about filling the stocking. Make a note on your Christmas buying list that you need to purchase stocking stuffers.
  • Do not stuff your child's stocking with items like batteries for their new toys. Your child will be disappointed with these lackluster functional gifts.
