If you think you might have pelvic inflammatory disease, you must see a doctor right away. Left untreated, Pelvic Inflammatory Disease can cause permanent damage to your organs, infertility and pain. If caught early, antibiotic treatment can cure the disease.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Step1
See a doctor right away if you believe you might have pelvic inflammatory disease. Waiting will only allow the disease to spread which will cause more damage and pain. Treating Pelvic Inflammatory Disease early can allow for a cure. Waiting can cause infertility.
Step2
Contact any number of women's health clinics across the country if you do not have insurance. They can work with you on payments and will not turn you away. They can perform the diagnostic tests and guide you through the treatment.
Step3
Take your medicine. Follow your doctor's orders exactly. Take the medicine prescribed, and be sure to go to your follow-up appointment. If the disease is progressed, or you are pregnant or have HIV, you may have to go to the hospital for treatment.
Step4
Your partner will also need to be treated. Pelvic Inflammatory Disease can easily spread, and your partner can re-infect you if he/she does not seek treatment. If you are not in a monogamous relationship you will need to contact your previous partners so they can get tested and get treatment. Do not let embarrassment keep you from doing this.
Step5
You must take safe sex practices seriously and always protect yourself. After you have completed treatment and are disease free, do everything in your power to stay that way.
