This houseplant is a beautiful, easy growing plant. It flourishes in hanging baskets placed in a sunny corner in the room. The Wandering Jew is considered one of the easiest houseplants to grow and comes in a wide array of colored foliage. At times, it even blooms.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Plant in rich soil in a container with good drainage.

  2. Step 2

Keep the Wandering Jew in bright, indirect sunlight. The houseplant should be kept at a temperature no less than 55 degrees F in somewhat humid air.

  3. Step 3

Water the plant so that the soil is moist all the time. Using a spray bottle, mist the leaves daily to add moisture.

  4. Step 4

Feed diluted liquid fertilizer weekly once the roots have had time to form a good system.

  5. Step 5

Re-pot the plant each spring making sure it is in a container big enough to allow for future growth.

  6. Step 6

Cut small trimmings off to plant as additions to the houseplant. Use trimmings to start a new plant. The trimmings should be planted in a mix of soil and sand and kept moist to grow.

Tips & Warnings
  • Feed the plant from mid-winter through summer, stopping in the fall for a few months.
  • Wash foliage monthly.
  • If dark colored foliage fades, pinch it off and put the houseplant into a dimly lit area.
  • Don't let the soil get too soggy. This will cause the roots to rot and be damaged.
  • Avoid cold drafty areas when picking a spot for the Wandering Jew.
