Your wedding is one of the biggest days of your life. After picking the right dress, the right site and the right person to share it with, you will need to pick wedding poetry that is meaningful to you.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Think theme. Poetry comes in many forms and romantic poetry for your day should fit well with your theme. If it is a more formal wedding, try to pick something that has stood the test of time. For a more informal wedding you may want to pick something more modern or something that uses speech common to everyone.

  2. Step 2

Set the mood. Keep with the mood you wish to set when you decide to pick wedding poetry. For a serious religious ceremony, choose from the Bible or ask your officiator to help you pick something. If it is non-religious, go for something light and upbeat that will help to ease the audience and draw them into your celebration.

  3. Step 3

Remember the reader. As you pick wedding poetry, keep your reader in mind. When you have a young cousin or family member read for the ceremony, you will want to ensure that the poem is easy to read. For an older reader, don't pick a poem that may make them uncomfortable. You want to make the poetry flow with your ceremony.

  4. Step 4

Ask a friend. When you have a good writer of poetry in your midst, use them. They would be honored to write a piece for your big day, and they would have the respect to put their all into writing it. It would be a personal poem, inspired by the bride and groom.
