Some might say it's impossible to improve upon lemonade, the classic summertime beverage. However, throw together a few simple ingredients and you can make electric lemonade, a refreshing cocktail that puts a new twist on an old favorite. Here's the recipe.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Vodka or light rum
  • Blue curacao
  • Sweet and sour mix
  • Clear lemon-lime soda
  1. Step 1

Fill a chilled hi-ball glass with ice.

  2. Step 2

Add approximately 1 1/2 ounces of vodka or rum (average shot size) to the glass.

  3. Step 3

Add about 2 ounces of the sweet and sour mix. Add more if you prefer a drink that is more tart.

  4. Step 4

Add a splash of soda for a little touch of fizz.

  5. Step 5

Finish off the cocktail by adding a half-ounce of blue curacao for color. Stir well.

  6. Step 6

Garnish with a slice of lemon or lime.

Tips & Warnings
  • Try using a citrus-infused vodka or rum in this cocktail for added pucker.
  • To reduce the tartness, sugar-coat the rim of the glass.
  • Throw the ingredients in a blender with extra ice to make a frozen electric lemonade.
  • Some people prefer using dark colas in place of clear soda. It's a matter of taste.
  • If you have melon liqueur, add some to turn the cocktail into an electric popsicle.
  • If you really want to get creative, try freezing some lemonade in an ice tray and using that in place of regular ice.
