How to Make Cheese Pepper Bread

Cheese pepper bread is both spicy and cheesy. This recipe takes 2 to 3 hours to make, and it will add a kick to any meal. Follow these steps to make 2 cheesy loaves of bread.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Large mixing bowl
  • ¼ cup hot tap water
  • 1 package dry yeast or 2 packages active dry yeast.
  • 2 1/3 cups flour
  • 1 egg
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • ¼ tsp. baking soda
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 2 tbls. sugar
  • 1 cup sharp cheddar cheese, grated
  • ½ tsp. red pepper
  • Butter
  • Blender
  • 2 1-lb. coffee cans
  1. Step 1

    Turn the oven to 350 degrees.

  2. Step 2

    Add yeast to the hot water and let it dissolve.

  3. Step 3

    Mix all of the ingredients except for the cheese and pepper.

  4. Step 4

    Blend on low speed. Scrape the sides to include all of ingredients in the mix. Once ingredients are incorporated, turn the speed to high. Beat the mixture for 2 minutes.

  5. Step 5

    Stir in the remainder of the flour, cheese and pepper by hand.

  6. Step 6

    Divide the batter in half. Roll the halves into balls.

  7. Step 7

    Grease the coffee cans. Place the batter into the greased coffee cans. Let the dough rise for 1 hour.

  8. Step 8

    Bake the bread for 40 minutes or until golden brown.

  9. Step 9

    Remove the cheese pepper bread from the coffee cans immediately. Let the bread cool before slicing.

  10. Step 10

    Butter the bread and serve.

Tips & Warnings
  • Freeze the bread in an airtight container if you want to save it for a later date.
