How to Make Goulash

Goulash is a dish made with meat, vegetables and macaroni mixed. It will take you about an hour to prepare and cook this meal, so it's perfect for busy families. It's also one way to get children to eat vegetables. Here's the recipe.

Instructions

Things You’ll Need:

  • 2 heads red cabbage
  • 1 lb. hamburger meat
  • 1 onion
  • 1 can mixed vegetables
  • 1 can whole kernel corn
  • 2 bay leaves
  • 2 beef bouillon cubes
  • 1/2 lb. elbow macaroni
  • 2 cups shredded cheese
  • 1 can sliced black olives
  • Salt
  • Water
  • Sauce pan
  • Skillet

Step1
Remove the middle of the cabbage. Hold cabbage under warm water to loosen the leaves. Pull off 6 large leaves.

Boil water with salt.
Step3
Place cabbage in the salt water and cook for 3 minutes.

Boil 2 cups of water in another pot.
Step5
Place macaroni in the boiling water for 7 to 10 minutes.

Chop the onion.
Step7
Brown the hamburger and onion in a large skillet.
Step8
Drain the grease.
Step9
Add the bay leaves to the meat and onions. Mix in the bouillon cubes, vegetables, cabbage, corn and macaroni.
Step10
Cook in the skillet on medium high heat for 10 to 15 minutes. All of the ingredients must be mixed well.
Step11
Sprinkle cheese and olives on the top of the dish.
Step12
Remove from the heat and serve.

Tips & Warnings

  • This recipe yields 8 to 10 servings.
  • This recipe can be refrigerated and reheated later.
  • Cooking the macaroni, cabbage and meat at the same time saves time.
