How to Make a Ham and Rice Casserole

Ham and rice casserole is a tasty dish that is perfect for smaller families. This recipe also works well for cooks strapped for time. The casserole takes less than an hour to prepare and cook. Here's the recipe.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 1 1/2 tbls. butter
  • 2 tbls. onion powder
  • 2 tsp. garlic salt
  • 2 slices bread
  • 1 can cream of mushroom soup
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 cup cubed ham
  • 2/3 cup pre-cooked rice, cooled
  • 1/2 cup French cut green beans, drained
  • 1 1/2 cup grated cheese
  • 1/2 cup bacon bits
  • Casserole dish
  • Sauce pan
  1. Step 1

    Preheat oven to 400 degrees.

  2. Step 2

    Melt the butter in the microwave or on the stove.

  3. Step 3

    Add the onion powder and garlic salt to the butter. Stir the mix until the spices dissolve.

  4. Step 4

    Chop the bread into small pieces and dip them in the butter.

  5. Step 5

    Combine all ingredients except for the bread, bacon bits and 1 cup of the grated cheese in a sauce pan.

  6. Step 6

    Bring the ingredients to a boil, stirring occasionally.

  7. Step 7

    Pour into a one-quart casserole dish. Add warm water if the casserole looks too dry. Combine the water into the ingredients.

  8. Step 8

    Sprinkle grated cheese, bacon bits and bread over the casserole.

  9. Step 9

    Cook at 400 degrees for 20 minutes.
