How to Make a Chili Hot Dog
There is nothing like biting into a Chili Hot Dog and hearing the snap of the hot dog while tasting the meaty goodness of the chili. Here is an easy recipe for this treat. Does this Spark an idea?
Things You'll Need
- 8 hot dogs
- 8 buns
- 15 oz. can of chili
- 1 small onion
- 1 tsp. celery salt
- Hot sauce
- 4 tbsp. butter
- 1 lb. shredded cheddar cheese

Fire up the grill, pan or microwave and cook your hot dogs. Puncture or partially slice your hot dogs so they will not explode. When the hot dogs have slightly browned, they are ready. (They will not brown in the microwave. Check the package for cooking instructions.)

Melt your butter in a pan. Place hot dog buns face down in the butter and let them brown. You'll be able to fit two buns at a time in most pans. Reapply more butter as needed.

Chop your onion finely.

Combine onion, chili, celery salt and hot sauce in a medium-sized saucepan over a medium flame. Stir until mixed.

Place the cooked hot dogs in the browned buns.

Spread heated chili liberally over each dog.

Sprinkle two pinches of cheese (about 2 oz.) over each hot dog.

Quickly cook the hot dogs and buns one more time. This will melt the cheese, crisp the bun and combine the flavors. The hot dogs are ready when the cheese melts.
