Instructions

    • 1

Choose yarn for the baby's booties. Find a nice soft baby-weight yarn in a color you know the expectant mother loves for your first pair of booties. You will need only 4 oz. for this project.

    • 2

      Cast on 34 stitches.

    • 3

Work in garter stitch for the first 14 rows. Garter stitch is created when you only do knit stitches, no purling or other fancy stitches here.

    • 4

Knit two together at the start of the next two rows. Finish the ends of the rows in garter stitch.

    • 5

Bind off three at the beginning of the next two rows. Again, use garter stitch to finish the ends of the rows.

    • 6

Work ribbing--knit two stitches, purl two stitches, continue--for the next 14 rows of the booties.

    • 7

      Bind off the final row.

    • 8

Fold the completed bootie in half, bringing the fronts together and use the darning needles to sew up the seam.

Is there any chance of a picture of the finished article, or perhaps a before and after it has been stitched together into the bootie?I'm having troubles figuring out where to fold and stitch as the pattern seems to create a funny shape...? Almost as if you need to make two and stitch them side to side...
