Running a vending route can be lots of fun but it can also be hard work. It is your own business so you will set your own hours. You need to monitor your sites to see that your machines do not run out of merchandise. This step by step guide will help you with the job of running a vending route.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderate

Things You’ll Need:

  • supplies
  • vehicle
  • bank account
Step1
Order supplies. Supplies should be ordered at least once a week. They can be ordered from one supplier or different suppliers. They can be delivered or picked up by you depending on your choice. Some of the choices you make will depend on the success of your vending route.
Step2
Set up a bank account. Since this is a cash business you will need to bank the money on a regular basis. Bank accounts do not need to be business accounts, you can set up a separate personal account.
Step3
Balance your machines. Count your cash and inventory your merchandise. They should balance. For example, if you sold 20 candy bars at .50 a bar then you should have 10 dollars in cash.
Step4
Restock the machines. You need to add the new merchandise to the back of the machines so that your inventory will always be fresh.
Step5
Continue these steps until you have completed each machine at this location and then proceed to the next stop in your route and start again. You should be able to service 25 locations a day using this method.

Tips & Warnings

  • Develop a schedule that allows you to save time on your route.
