How to Join an MSN Group
The decision to join an online group provides numerous levels of opportunity. MSN Groups can be a wonderful resource for finding professional or hobby-oriented contacts, online friendships, and emotional support. The site is simple to navigate and quickly narrows down choices. Despite the plethora of groups available, users can find a compatible selection in short order.

Determine the type of group that interests you. MSN has numerous types of online groups. Examples include those designed for support, social interaction, technical advice, and instructional groups.

Go to MSN Groups and select Browse Groups.

Click on the subject matter of your choice. Narrow your search further by choosing one of the sub-categories that pops up.

Browse the available group listings. To find an active, thriving group, sort according to activity level by clicking the phrase. Note the meter to the right of the description. This is an indicator of group participation.

Note the icons beside each group. Padlocks indicate groups who take new members by invitation only. You can apply for membership, but a manager must approve your application in order to join. A pipe icon specifies a group with mature content. Be aware that mature content is usually R-rated in nature. A small percentage of mature groups post X-rated adult material that may offend some users.

Read through the descriptions to get a feel for each group. Find one that fits your requirements. Take careful note of any application instructions, many groups screen potential members.

Click on the MSN Group name. In an open group, you can look around or immediately join. In a closed group, you can apply for membership. Fill out the application. Remember to follow all special instructions previously listed on the group description. The MSN Group Manager then reviews your application and makes a decision regarding membership.
