Throwing a party is lots of fun, but being a party host requires lots of work as well. You're juggling the entertainment, food and myriad requests from your guests. With a few well-planned ideas, you can host and still enjoy your party!
Organize your party in advance. Work out the details such as the menu, drinks, seating and activities and have a structured plan to ensure things are well put together once guests arrive. This way, you can actually enjoy your party.
Step2
Great each guest as they arrive so they feel comfortable and welcomed. Take their coats and show them where to place anything they might have brought with them.
Step3
Show your guests to the food and drink area. If it is a more formal get together, offer each of your guests a drink. Show them around your home or facility. Ensure they know where the restroom is located and where the main seating or activities will be taking place.
Step4
Introduce your guests to each other. Offer topics of conversation by including information they may have in common. Often, you are the only one who knows each of your guests and their interests.
Step5
Monitor the food and drinks and keep supplies such as napkins, cups and other tableware stocked.
Step6
Have a conversation with each guest and divide your time among them equally.
Step7
Thank your guests for coming and show them to the door at the party's end. If serving alcohol, make sure to have an alternative plan for anyone that may not be able to drive.

Thanks for the tips! Theme parties are fun. Look for some of my articles on them soon, perhaps. A rule of thumb I use, when alcohol is involved, is 2 glasses of water for every standard sized beverage. But, also, of course, ZERO drinking and driving. It's probably a good idea to have local cab numbers available and posted. -Larry Fike, http://www.myspace.com/larryfike

Well, it's great if you roll that way! I usually just hire the Pussycat Dolls and have them greet the guest! But that's only if the "Girls Next Door" can't bring Hef with them.. When he feels better, (some days are better than others for him) He is the best host ever, so I let him greet my guest, especially if it is an indoor event... excuse me, I have to get Carmen Elektra out of here...she's been a problem in the past! Oh no, there is Lindsey... Brittany is the only sane one these days! How Ironic...?
