Step 1
Visit Oklahoma's Board of Cosmetology website for information about licensing fees, procedures, contact information and other details regarding the state's cosmetology licensing process. Also available at this website are the forms and information necessary for licensed cosmetologists from other states who want to obtain an Oklahoma license.
-
Step 2
Complete an accredited cosmetology program. Oklahoma requires students to complete at least 1,500 hours of curriculum in order to qualify for the official licensing exam. A list of accredited private programs and public school programs are listed on Oklahoma's Board of Cosmetology website.

Step 3
Consider an apprentice program. If the fees of beauty school are too much of a burden, try a different route. Complete a 3,000 hour apprentice program under the guidance of a licensed instructor in a salon.

Step 4
Pass the examinations. After completing a beauty school program or an apprenticeship, all license candidates must complete practical and written examinations.
