Women have been selling Avon products for over one-hundred years. Today, the popular products are being sold by five million representatives worldwide. Learn how you can join forces with this global team of "Avon Ladies" and start your own home-based business with Avon in just a few easy steps.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • Ten dollars (the joining fee)

Step1
Talk with your own Avon representative. Do you purchase Avon products from a local consultant? While some consultants are hobbyists others are anxious to grow their business and income by managing and supporting a team of representatives. If you've made a strong connection with a local salesperson, let them know that you want to join the business so they can show you how.
Step2
Locate a consultant through friends and family members. If you do not have a personal consultant, ask your friends and family members to refer you to theirs. Many people develop long-standing relationships with their Avon representative and would be happy to offer you a referral.
Step3
Interview potential team leaders. Avon, like most direct sales companies, offers an increased commission structure for consultants who recruit and train new representatives. If you are serious about starting a profitable Avon sales business, you'll want to interview potential leaders and choose one that is right for you.
Step4
Pay the ten dollar starter fee. New Avon representatives are required to pay a small fee to join the business. This fee covers the cost of basic training materials and some catalogs.
Step5
Get your family and friends on board. Once you've chosen a leader you'll want to start your business with a bang. Share your new business with friends and family members and encourage them to share your catalogs at the places they frequent. The more you can tap into existing contacts to begin selling products, the easier it will be to meet new ones.
Step6
Attend training meetings. The benefit of joining a large direct sales company like Avon is that you will likely have access to local training meetings or a local manager that will help you start your business. In the initial stages of your home-based business, you'll want to attend as many of these sessions as possible. Consider "shadowing" a local sales leader to learn additional sales tips and techniques.
