Step 1
Educate yourself. Whether you are just starting out, or fine tuning your skills on the drums, you should continue to get training from someone who is accredited and good at teaching and guiding drummers.
-
Step 2
Prioritize. Put your money and efforts into getting out and making yourself noticed by bands and record labels. Being dedicated to your music, and not money or vacations, is a good way to make your dreams a reality. Keep you sights high, but understand that you will have to take some lower level jobs before you can make it big.
-
Step 3
Form a band. To become a professional drummer, you will need a band or orchestra to perform with. Find people that you get along with, and that have a similar vision when it comes to work, music and sound.
-
Step 4
Try MySpace. MySpace has become a haven for up-and-coming artists. Use this tool, or one like it, to network with bands in your area and to put your music out there to be heard. Our society is becoming more and more about the digital arena and its place in business, and music is no different. Make your computer work for you in getting gigs.
-
Step 5
Get out there and play for every musical competition or gig that you can get your hands on. No one will come to your garage to discover you and your band. The key to getting noticed is putting your music out there, and making people take notice.
