The gravity pull is a basic yo-yo move that you have to learn first before you can move onto other tricks. Basically you defy gravity when gravity pulls the yo-yo down and you yank it right back up. This trick takes practice and must be perfected so the yo-yo doesn't wobble sideways which could interfere with other yo-yo tricks. Follow these steps to do the gravity pull.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • A yo-yo
  1. Step 1

Wind the yo-yo string around its axis all the way and put the string loop around the middle finger of your dominant hand.

  2. Step 2

Grip the yo-yo in the open palm of this hand with your palm facing upward.

  3. Step 3

Bend your arm at the elbow, bringing the yo-yo towards you.

  4. Step 4

Flick your wrist as you extend your arm out in front of you while letting the yo-yo roll off your hand. Let gravity do the work.

  5. Step 5

Turn your hand so the palm faces downward when the yo-yo is completely off your hand.

  6. Step 6

Yank the yo-yo string lightly with your middle finger when you feel the yo-yo hit the end of the string.

  7. Step 7

Grab the yo-yo in your hand when it comes back up.

Tips & Warnings
  • Keep practicing and soon you will get the feel of when you need to yank the yo-yo back up to you. You may not do it perfectly the first time or the first few times, but lots of practice will get you there.
  • You'll know you've perfected the gravity pull when the yo-yo snaps right back into your hand.
  • Don't yank too hard or too soon or the yo-yo either won't come back smoothly into your hand or won't come back up at all.
