Difficulty: Moderately Challenging
Step1
Select a small, efficient, experienced crew. More than likely your first videos will be low budget ones. You're not going to have the money for a large crew, so find a handful of people that you trust and are experienced and reliable enough to get the job done.
Step2
Choose locations that are private, free, you have ready access to and if possible can get for free or extremely low cost. Homes need to look lavish and nice cars need to be rented. A lot of rap music is about bragging about what you have and the sets and props must look the part.
Step3
Rent from a person who owns their own equipment if you don't have your own. It will be much cheaper then trying to rent from a business.
Step4
Keep it simple but stylish. This isn't the time for special effects, elaborate sets or lots of props. To save time and ultimately money make it a party or block party video. You will still have the rap feel but low on expense.
Step5
Shoot outside as much as possible. It costs more money to light interior shots then outside shots. If you shoot during daylight hours than you can use natural light.
Step6
Find the best looking women you can that are willing to work for free and supply their own hair, make-up and wardrobe. This shouldn't be too hard since many young women are looking to be in videos.
Step7
Stick to a tight schedule. You don't have time to waste and may be only working with several hours to get the video shot.
