Step 1
Scour your local bookstore or library for a French cuisine cookbook. Pick a couple of recipes to try at home.
-
Step 2
Contact your local cooking school or community college to see if they offer a class on French cooking.
-
Step 3
Visit your local French restaurant for a sampling of French classics. Inquire about the importance of certain foods to the French culture.
-
Step 4
Linger at a restaurant and have a few slow sips of wine. You don't have to be at a French restaurant to eat like the French. Meals in France are not rushed as they are in the U.S. The French take time to enjoy both the meal and the company.
-
Step 5
Learn some of the French language. This doesn't mean you have to take an intense course, just a few words can spice up your life by surprising your partner.
-
Step 6
Throw a French-themed party. Invite all your friends for a dinner party with all the French classics and a good bottle of wine. Decorate your home by capturing the feeling of a French sidewalk cafe. Take it all the way by buying berets (French hats) for your guests to wear and buy a French music CD to play on your stereo to really set the mood.
